The Florida region had its annual Holiday party at Mission inn. This resort has a wonderful Sunday brunch that has every type of breakfast or dinner food in a buffet format that anyone could ever want. The food quality is as great as the atmosphere. It is located in Yalaha Florida which is on the Lake Harris chain of lakes. It is a garden paradise with golf and boating. Yalaha means "orange" in the local Indian language. That highlights the rural feel of the area and the orange groves that still spot the landscape. The area is breathtaking!
The Mission Inn management set aside special parking for the exotic cars that attended and we had a very good turnout. We were blessed with the typical sunny and warm Florida weather. It was a perfect day to drive your pride and joy! The cars were parked right outside of the entrance and caused a lot of attention. It was like a small car show. We had Ferraris and Lotus’s attend. Erwin & Erna Dunky brought their brand new 612 Scaglietti. Their car won in its category at the Reunion, Concourse D’Elegance. It is a beautiful ruby red. Steve Piantieri brought a 330 America. The 308 GTS in attendance is owned by Don & Marie Voorhees. We were also blessed with a gorgeous 575 Maranello. This beauty is owned by Gary & Jan Albreck. Lee and Joy Adams also brought their brand new F430 F1. Karl Franz Morquez brought his Lotus S4 and Bill Root his V8 twin turbo version of the Esprit. Karl’s car won in his category at the Reunion resort, Concourse D’Elegance and was a winner at the Winter Park Concourse.
The meal and the car talk were awesome. We had most owners stay past the buffet time to talk to resort attendees about their car and exotic cars in general. Santa Clause stopped by to give best wishes and goodwill to the attendees. He also told the owner of the yellow Lotus that he had to land his sleight on the roof but not to worry he did not damage it too much. Santa also gave Erwin Dunky a "verbal" black coal for having the most exotic car in the crowd of exotic cars. The rumors are every time the Dow Jones goes down the Federal Reserve calls Erwin so he can buy a few more cars! The DJ goes up and everyone is happier.
The event went well and we were fortunate to have the President and regional coordinator Mark Reinecke (F355 Spider) with his lovely wife and treasurer Pam. We also were fortunate to have Bruce Morehead with his awesome 348 who is on the Regional Board.
It was a memorable event, a great time, with wonderful people, car nuts, warm sunshine and a lot of cars. Life does not get any better than that J
Thanks to all who came and made it such a memorable day. See you all at our next event!
